The radio station was established as a successor to the R-107 radio. Made completely on semiconductors and integrated circuits. Unfortunately, this "modernity" cost more than double the increase of weight, the radio was very unreliable and burdensome in the repair (the so-called "Sandwich" assembly).
Precisely because of the importance in the Polish Army Radio it was used almost exclusively as mounted on vehicles (cars command RD-115ZT, R-2AM, R-3M etc ...) as the "outdoor" radio.
